Jennifer Lopez is a proud mother to twins Max and Emme whom she shares with her ex husband, Marc Anthony. She lovingly calls them her “coconuts.” The twins were born on February 22, 2008 and their arrival changed her life.

From the beginning, the singer expressed how deep her love is.

“It’s unconditional love,” she said. “I know everybody feels this way about their kids but I just feel like they are super special and I can’t wait to see what they do.”

In 2024, Max and Emme turned 16 and to celebrate the occasion, Jennifer took them on a trip to Japan and shared moments from their getaway.

The Dance Again songstress also admitted the bittersweet feeling of seeing them grow older. “I feel like this is the last time that I'll get to do something like this with them as they're 16, and next time they're gonna be like, ‘No, mom.’”

Emme has followed in their mother’s musical footsteps as they have joined Jennifer on stage several times, including singing Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years and Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A.

In 2020, Emme performed during the Super Bowl halftime show alongside Jennifer and Shakira. At 13, they also published Lord Help Me: Inspiring Prayers for Every Day, which became a New York Times bestseller.

It is important to note that Jennifer uses gender neutral pronouns when addressing Emme.

Max is more private, but thoughtful, and in 2020, after the death of George Floyd, he encouraged his mother and her then-fiancé to support Black Lives Matter and with Emme, he created signs which said “Black Lives Matter” and “Let’s Get Loud for Black Lives Matter.”

Jennifer said, “He wanted me to make sure I realized that I had power and that I should use it, and I thought that was very insightful and it was one of those parenting moments when you're like, Oh, maybe I’m raising a conscientious, kind, loving kid here.”

Emme once said, “Max and I have a special relationship. Since we were very little, I could always understand him when no one else could.”

Their words show the strong sibling bond that continues as they grow older.
